- Note wires and plugs and then disconnect a high-voltage wire and wires of primary chain from the ignition coil.
- Remove fastenings of the coil of ignition, then clear its external surface and examine in search of cracks and other damages.
- Examine regarding corrosion of the plug of primary chain and high-voltage contact of the coil of ignition. Remove the found corrosion with a wire brush.
- Check resistance of primary winding of the coil of ignition, having connected an ohmmeter to its plugs. On some Motronic systems the coil of other type is used. First, remove a cover of the coil and measure by an ohmmeter resistance between plugs of primary winding of the coil of ignition.
- Check resistance of a secondary winding of the coil of ignition, having connected one probe of an ohmmeter to one of plugs of primary winding, and the second probe - to high-voltage contact of the coil of ignition.

- In the TCI systems connect an ohmmeter between the plug 1 (-) of the coil of ignition and the central contact. In the Motronic systems connect an ohmmeter between the plug 15 () of the coil of ignition and the central contact. Compare the measured resistance to requirements of the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management.

- If the measured resistance considerably differ from specified, the coil is faulty and has to be replaced. Pay attention that resistance depends on the coil temperature therefore you do not hurry to reject the coil if resistance differs slightly.

- For the correct work of system of ignition the dry and pure condition of wires is essential.
- Install the coil on its fastening and attach wires. Installation back to removal.
