11.2.3. Survey, removal, installation and replacement of plugs of the lever of a suspension bracket and basic levers

- Examine the rubber plug of the basic lever. If it dried, burst, is torn or worn-out, replace it. The rubber plug of the lever of a suspension bracket cannot be examined without removal of the lever.
- The car and reliably establish to Poddomkratta it on axial support.
- To survey spherical support of levers of a suspension bracket and basic on wear, take the top and lower part of each spherical support in big couple of hydraulic pincers ("a jaw of a parrot") and try to squeeze them. Or insert some lever or the big screw-driver and move it up and down. If you find a side play, replace the lever of a suspension bracket or the basic lever. It is impossible to replace separately spherical support.

Removal
|
|
If the support is worn-out or damaged, the only way to replace it is to replace the lever of a suspension bracket or the basic lever entirely. When replacing the lever of a suspension bracket or the basic lever it is always necessary to replace and the rubber plug. It is impossible to take out the plug from the old lever and to put it on new. |

|
- Release bolts of fastening of wheels, the car and reliably establish to a poddomkratta it on axial support. Remove a wheel.
|
|
- If you remove the suspension bracket lever, give three bolts on the rotary lever and remove assembly of a rack from the lever.
|
|
|
- If you remove the suspension bracket lever, give the self-stopped nut and a coupling bolt (it is specified by an arrow) which fixes the internal end of the lever to the car.
|
|
|
- If you remove the basic lever, give a nut and a bolt (are specified by shooters) fastenings of the back end of the lever.
|
|
|
- Give the self-stopped nut (a suspension bracket lever nut, the left arrow; a nut of the basic lever, the right arrow) from a spherical support, then prop up the rotary lever and a vypressuyta or beat out a spherical support from the rotary lever.
|
|
|
- You can remove a spherical support of the basic lever from a rotary fist by means of a stripper.
|
|
|
- The hammer can be necessary for you to vystuchat a finger of a spherical support of the lever of a suspension bracket from the rotary lever since there is no place for use of a stripper. It is the best of all to use specially device for division of spherical hinges intended for this purpose. The hammer is no good if you put the same details.

Survey and replacement of plugs
|
|
If the plug burst, tore or is worn-out, bring the lever to dealer office of the BMW service or to repair shop, its vypressuyta and a vpressuyta the new plug. Plugs always should be replaced in couples (the new plug has to be installed in each lever, and both have to have an identical stamp of the manufacturer). At installation of the new plug on the basic lever make sure that it is correctly located. The arrow on the rubber plug is combined with a mark in the lever, and the center of the plug coincides with the center of an opening. |
Installation
You make installation upside-down. Do not forget to establish the new self-stopped nuts on a nut of a hairpin of a spherical support and on a coupling bolt. Do not forget to establish also washers on both sides of a coupling bolt. At installation of the lever of a suspension bracket use special lubricant for a carving on bolts of fastening of the rotary lever. Do not tighten a coupling bolt with the required effort at once.

Basic levers have marking of "L" for the left side and "R" for the right side. Pay attention to it at installation of the new lever. |
|
|
- Prop up the suspension bracket lever a jack on castors and raise it to simulate its normal working height, then tighten a coupling bolt with the required effort. Establish a wheel and tighten bolts of fastening of wheels with the required effort.
- Check the angles of installation of forward wheels in dealer office of service or in auto repair shop.
