9.2.6. Removal and installation of automatic transmission

If the radio receiver of your car is equipped with system of protection against theft, make sure that you gathered the correct code before a battery detachment.


If after connection of the battery of an inscription on an instrument guard appeared not in that language, address to in the Section System of Protection of the Audio System from theft and language of an instrument guard where the procedure of installation of the necessary language is described.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire of the battery.
  2. Disconnect a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve and remove it from an arm on the inlet pipeline (see the Head the Power supply system).
  3. On M10 engines uncover the ignition distributor to prevent its damage during removal of transmission when the engine bends back.
  4. The car and reliably establish to Poddomkratta it on axial support.
  5. Remove system of production of the fulfilled gases (see the Head the Power supply system).
  6. Disconnect a selector rod from a cable (see the Section Adjustment of the Drive of the Lever of the Selector).
  7. Remove the driveshaft (see the Head Stsepleniye).
  1. Merge liquid from transmission (see the Head Routine maintenance of the car). Pick up the jellied phone and disconnect lines of a cooler.
  1. Zakuporte open lines to prevent hit of dirt in transmission.
  2. On transmissions 3HP 22 uncover transmission in the lower part of a dome. On transmissions of other models remove a stiffening rib and the limiter of blow of transmission in the lower part of a dome.
  3. Through an opening in a dome give bolts of fastening of the converter of rotation to a driving disk. On transmissions of 3HP of 22 such bolts four; on 4HP 22 - three. If necessary turn the engine that all bolts were visible.
  4. On cars with system of injection of Motronic fuel remove the sensors of speed and position of the crankshaft of the engine installed in a transmission dome (see the Head Sistem of ignition).
  5. On the cars equipped with transmissions 4HP 22 of EH disconnect the electric socket of the control unit in the left part of transmission, directly over the transmission case pallet.
  6. Prop up transmission from below a special transmission jack or a jack on castors, having placed wooden whetstone between a head of a jack and the pallet of a case of transmission to protect the pallet. Remove a back support of transmission and if it is provided, the strengthening beam, having given bolts of their fastening to a body. Lower the engine and transmission on the lobby bearing axes.

In order to avoid damage of the converter of rotation or transmission do not allow a shaft of the converter to keep transmission weight.

  1. Give bolts of fastening of a dome of transmission to the engine.
  2. To get access to the rotation converter, remove a viewing lattice in a side part of a dome. Using the lever to hold the rotation converter reliably fixed on transmission, separate transmission from the engine.
  3. In case of installation of the new or restored transmission remove the rotation converter from old and establish it on new transmission. To remove the converter from old transmission, insert two long bolts half into fixing openings of the converter and evenly pull for both bolts. For installation of the converter see the Section Replacement of Epiploons, paragraph 6.

Installation

Installation in the basic is made as it should be, the return to removal, however remember the following:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Tighten rotation converter bolts with the required effort.
  2. Before that to attach lines of a cooler, blow them compressed air, then wash out pure liquid to remove particles of frictional laying which can litter the new or restored transmission.
  3. Use new laying on a drain stopper of the pallet of a case of transmission and a new sealing ring of round section on connection of a jellied tube with the pallet.
  4. At connection of the socket of the control unit on transmissions 4HP 22 of EH make sure that tags are combined.
  5. Fill transmission with new pure liquid (see the Head Routine maintenance of the car).
  6. Adjust the drive of the lever of the selector and a cable of draft of a butterfly valve (see Sections. Adjustment of the drive of the lever of the selector and Adjustment of a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve).
