16:11. Check and replacement of brushes of the generator
Disconnect a negative wire of the rechargeable battery.
Bosch generator

- Remove tension regulator from a back part of the generator (watch the Section Replacement of the Regulator of Tension).

- Measure length of brushes. They should not be shorter than 6 mm. If any of them is worn-out to this limit, replace all set.

- Also check for existence of wear of a ring of a collector (watch
an illustration).
- Brushes are fixed by either screws, or the soldering. If you have not enough experience in the soldering, then for installation of brushes, perhaps, it will be better to address the electrician.

Be careful and do not heat the place of the soldering longer than 5 seconds. If necessary use the heat sink to prevention of an overheat. It can be executed narrow flat-nose pliers which should clasp a detail near the place of the soldering. |
- In case of screw fastening hold knot on a seat and install screws. Evenly gradually tighten screws that the holder was not bent.
- Install tension regulator knot on the generator.
- Attach a negative wire of the battery.

Generator of Motorola

- Remove the generator.
- Brushes are established under the regulator tension in a back part of the generator (watch
an illustration).
- Remove fixing screws and the isolating washers and separate from the case from a collector the regulator of tension and the brush holder.
- Measure length of brushes (see an illustration above). If any of brushes is shorter than 6 mm, replace all set.
- Make sure that brushes move without jamming in the brush holder.
- Install tension brush holder/regulator. Hardly tighten screws. Make sure that brushes are not short-circuited on the earth.
- Installation back to removal.
